Sharp AQUOS LC52LE700UN 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV Review
Overall, a great value; top notch image quality at a very reasonable price.
Pros:
Stunning image quality. Fantastically bright (and perfectly even brightness, no bright/dark areas like most LCD TVs have), very high contrast, with excellent color depth/richness. The viewing angle is magnificent; there's virtually no color or brightness shift until you're looking at the screen close to edge on. It looks a lot like the IPS type panels found in high end computer monitors.
The 120 Hz motion enhancement technology does make a noticeable improvement when viewing some moving objects, particularly scrolling text.
Cons:
It's not very well suited to be used as the display of a media PC. The PC video connection (VGA) for some astonishing reason doesn't support full 1080p input, so you'll need to get an adapter/cable to plug your computer into one of the HDMI ports. Equally mysteriously, it doesn't have a 'sleep' function; the screen will stay on even when the computer has gone to sleep. You can set the TV to turn itself off after five minutes without a signal, but then you need to press the power button to turn it back on (it won't re-activate when the PC wakes up and starts sending a signal to it.)
Misc.:
The built-in speakers are (as usual for flat panels) unremarkable; not much bass, although they do avoid the 'buzzing' at higher volumes that plagues many TV speakers. They're fine for general TV watching, and any serious movie fan will want to hook up a surround sound system anyway.
You'll want to tweak the power saving settings (which can dim the display when the room is dark); it tends to get too dark for my tastes otherwise.
